This has always been a favourite "bugbear" or mine... I believe that language should be used correctly ... not because I'm a pedant, but because it enriches conversation...
I have been accused of using "big words" .. but I have never used a "big word" when a smaller one would convey the same infromation.... I find it offensive that people can accept poor use of language ... I saw a TV show for kids a couple of weekends ago (it was "Michaela's Wild Challenge) and the challenge was something like: "See the 'big 5' wild animals in London in 24 hours using only peddle power".
I'm serious .. "peddle" ... is it any wonder that people are losing the ability to spell and to use grammar, when the media is incapable of setting a good example.
I'm not some old dude either... just a guy who cares!!

I also heard a commercial several years ago where a furniture store (or car dealership, or whatever) stressed the importance of IRA incentives...not individual retirement accounts, but inventory reduction advantages.

If you are an artist, to be hung means to have your paintings, photographs, etc "hung" on the wall. Hanged is rope round the neck time!!!
