In a society where celebrities display no morality whatsoever, it's nice to see Smith get some respect. The man has gone from geeky teenage rapper to highly respected and talented actor. His marriage seems to be going strong. He seems to be raising his children right. And he is a fantastic role model. Why wouldn't he be influential? Especially with the timing of his last film?
EDIT: Yes, it is sad that America looks to celebrities for guidance, but if you are going to seek fame and celebrity, why not use that to act as a positive influence rather than an idiot?

Probably because of the movie he made that came out in 2006 about the black man that rose from the streets and became a top executive. That's the only reason I've got.

I agree with Montgomery 100%. Why we worship performers is beyond me. Will, Brad, Angelina, Jenn, Oprah, etc ad nauseum. Most of the children today can tell you Beyonce's shoe size, but their parents cannot even tell you who their city councilman is.
