According to Machiavelli a prince must make his own decision. He must not listen to someone else advice. At the end of the prince Machiavelli tells us that “a prince therefore should always seek advice but only when he wishes and not when other wish it. Indeed he should discourage everyone from giving advice on any subject, unless he ask for it” ( Machiavelli pg 236). When Cassius compliments Brutus honorable character, Brutus should be caution of his flattery. But instead he response to Cassius by saying “ what you had said I will considered, what you have to say I will with patiences hear and find a time both meet to hear and answer such high things” ( Shakespeare act 1 scene 2 168-171). Because Brutus does not make his own decision Cassius will be able to manipulate to join the compares.
