Literally, fiddle sticks are the bows that you use to play a violin with. In fact, the word 'fiddlesticks' was originally used when someone wanted to swear- the 'f' word, that is- but they stopped themselves in time. Sort of, "Oh, fu...iddlesticks." It was a politer time. ;)

Eventually, the word came to be used as a very mild swear word in its own right, and people who wanted to use stronger swear words just started to do so of their own free will.

The fiddle is sometimes played by two people at the same time, with one player using the bow and fingers, while another player stands to the side and taps out a rhythm on the fiddle strings using small sticks called fiddlesticks.

Don't know the origin of this, but this must be a nice person if the only expletive used when kicking the door is "oh fiddlesticks"

It's basically a way of saying 'for uck sake why the uck did i just do a stupid ucking thing like that' i think that that answer would be the right one. specially if you live at home with your parents and you don't want a smack round the head or grounded for swearing like i just did.
