Here is the sentence: "MassBay had no music or art programs whatsoever, minus the ____ courses needed to have a degree in Interior Design." I am looking for a negative adjective because the classes to get a degree -could- be considered artsy, like Architectural Drawing for Interior Design, but they're not what I'm looking for. Help!!

My fiance's brother, who is 17, has effectively dropped out of high school. He has been "home schooled" for his entire life, but this means he has little to no education since his parents basically just let him sit at home all day every day and do nothing. Before I continue, I also was home schooled and my parents did a great job. I graduated at the top of my class in high school and have done very well in college. However, it's people like his parents that ruin a good thing. They think education is stupid and unnecessary. What can I do to convince him not to quit and also to convince them not to encourage him in ruining his life?
