That depends very much on the person learning the language... If you've grown up in an evironment with romance languages, the u will feel more comfortable learning other languages of the same type. If you grew up with an eastern environment, you'd be more comfortable with others of that type.

Personally, i think i had an advantage, since i come from nepal, I know nepalese and hindi, but had a good english base that was strengthened during my three years here in the US. I soon learned Spanish, and then french.
I also know bits of russian and italian.

The only continenent from which i need to learn a native language is Africa.. I'm thinking swahili

I've been told that English and German are the most difficult languages.

If you learn any Romance Language (those based on Latin), the others come a lot easier. I spoken Spanish my whole life and can understand French and Italian without having taken a single class.

Granted the speaker must speak slowly and in short sentences...

Good luck.

Japanese has a sentence structure totally unlike English.

German has a sentence structure a bit unlike English, and the nouns have "cases". If you take German, you'll find out.

Persian, I have listened to enough to know that is a language unlike any other.

French has a structure like English but there are special pronunciation rules, and it's more difficult to learn pronunciation.

Italian and Spanish are both based on Latin, and both have sentence structure sort of like English, and the grammar rules are similar. But there are many, many more people who presently speak Spanish in the US, and you are more likely to be able to get help with Spanish.

So the winner is Spanish.

I just finished learning Spanish, but that is very easy to learn. Because they are related, it is also easy to learn Italian and Latin. I got a 3 on mp AP Spanish test (and a 3 gives me college credit), and that language was very easy. Because of Spanish, I can understand some Latin and Italian.
HOPE THIS HELPS!!

I would agree with the above that Spanish is the easiest to learn. Also, if you live in TX, CA, NY or FL, you will get ample opportunity to use it.

But, if I had a choice to learn any of the above...I think I would pick French. I think it is a beautiful language.

Spanish is pretty easy. But Japanese is a really simple language, its just very different from the English language so a lot of English-speaking learners get really confused.

As my dyslexic daughter would say, "English is our second language". Some people have the knack to learn another language and others don't. Try each and see what you discover about yourself. If you have a learning disability, check with your counselor and if this is an educational issue, this requirement can be waived for graduation.
