Red looks like 650nm.
Bu i suppose you'll just say i compared it to nanometers. In that case, i'd like to ask if anyone can describe anything without any comparisons.

color is a very strange thing. really though, how does one describe color? for example, what is green? green isn't grass. it's what we are told that grass is. or leaves. or the top of that fire hydrant. or whatever. green isn't any one of those things; those things are what people teach us to call green. also, how do we know what other people perceive as green? what tone or shade i see as green might be what you consider orange. one never knows, because one simply cannot see what another can.

that's an oxymoronic question...
I mean, really, to answer the question "What does red look like?", one would have to say "Red looks like _____" and anything you use to fill in that statement would act as a comparitive...
Interesting question, and it really made me think about our perceptions of color and everything we see, but it really isn't answerable the way you've posed it...
