Seems like everytime we go out ot eat lately, the food comes, you look at it and it looks okay but a few hours after eating it...let's just say you wish you didn't. Seems like everywhere you go these days the food is just not right. Do you think it is the employees? After seeing 'that' movie, I don't think I want to ever eat out again! Even in the finest places in town... Is anyone else having this experience in either fine dining or fast food in their town?

Alot of people are just jerks when they eat out, I just want to know why they are rude and inconsiderate. Everyone should work in a restaurant for one week and see what it is like dealing with these idiots.

So i am a part time nanny and I am quite busy this summer with babysitting for a bunch of families and my sister's wedding coming up in August. I applied to be an applebee's server at the end of last school year and they just called to have me come in for an interview. I am 18 and I really need to make money for school. I was wondering if anyone knows how much on average an applebee's server makes. I know if I ask the owner they will tell me they get good tips and bla bla bla just so they look good and I take the job. Let me know if you think it's worth my time or I should just keep nannying for the summer. I do want to have a life outside of work but I don't know.

I was wondering if it as good as I have heard and who owns it? Is it a family appropriate place or for the most part just a bar? It is located at 11240 University Pkwy. Any info would be great. Thank you!!

Why are the food portions at restaurants here in the US so big compared to the rest of the world?

Your vote counts.

If I were to ever leave New Mexico, I honestly believe I would miss the food most. No other state or country I've visited has Mexican food quite as yummy as New Mexico... including Mexico itself.

I'm actually somewhat curious about what exactly makes "New Mexican" food different from other Mexican food.

Diners eating out should announce, "I'm not a tipper," and then allow the wait staff to politely refuse to provide service to that diner. Now, wouldn't that be fair?

Any other suggestions?
Waiters?
Waitresses?
Diners?

What's fairness ethic do you think should be applied?

My husband and I have a disagreement on this issue. We're dining out at an mid-class sit-down restaurant. We have a single server, who brings drinks, takes orders, brings condiments, extra stuff, cleans spills, brings to-go boxes, refills drinks, etc.

Husband: "I think if I go to a restaurant and our server does all of the above but was not UNUSUALLY polite but average, I do not owe our server a tip at the end of the meal, as he/she was merely doing what was expected. Tips are optional, and 6% is not an insult."

Wife: "I think if we go to a restaurant, we are paying an amount for our food, and for service - two separate prices. Servers work for tips, that's their income. We pay the restaurant and cooks to supply and cook for us, we pay the server to bring it and other stuff to us. We're paying them for the job they do. A tip is not optional. I like 20% to 30%, but NEVER less than 15%."

Is a tip required or optional?
How much?

I was appalled on a recent visit to Austin, Texas by the filthy silverware routinely given to diners apparently to get them in and get them out ASAP so more money can be made. These places --Pancake House and one famous Barbeque restaurant whose name I have been fortunate enough to forget -- were NASTY! I don't mean water spots on forks either. I am Texan, but do not remember this in any restaurant in the early 80s before I came to Europe. And now they also expect a 20% tip for service?!? People, I tip for GOOD service and that includes, most especially, sanitary silverware! Do American establishments now condone such barbaric practices as a former diner's spinach hanging off a fork or nasty milky, dried gunk on spoons served to patrons? Are there no standards or pride in a business anymore? Are most Americans uncomplaining to the point of barbarism? It is about STANDARDS, people. If you screw up on silverware, I and many others won't be returning. Ever! Serious responses only.
