I think you should be 16 or 17. My parents never set a limit for me; they knew that it would happen one day and expected me to be mature enough to know when I felt like I was at the age to date. Still, I went out with a guy when I was 14 going on 15...and although I'm glad that I did because of what I learned from it (i.e. some boys are just in it for sex and so I need to be more careful with who I choose to date), I wouldn't suggest you go that path. I didn't let my parents know either, which I feel is now a mistake. I'm almost 18, and I realize how naive I was when I started dating and how it was immature to keep it from my parents. Be wise about your decisions, and if you strongly feel that you are mature enough to handle the drama and that you are mature enough to say "no" in situations that make you feel uncomfortable, then date when you are ready. Otherwise, listen to your parents because they've been through that stuff.

Probably when you are old enough to work and show responsibility to hold a job, including those you date. Figure if a person not responsible to work they sure not responsible to date and not get pregnant. Sorry this the only way to say it, I know you want to date. I started when I was 16 and had my own car AND showed I could work, pay my Insurance, keep my car repaired including good Tires and Afford to take my girl out. ;-)

It all depends on how mature you are. Is there some reason your parents doubt you are mature enough?

Regardless of maturity level, I'd say 15 or 16 is the minimum. Some may need to be older because they are immature.

16 depending on your mental maturity. If it's less than 16, then 16 is too early. Maturity level is probably more important than chronological age, but at least it's important to factor it in.
