It has happened to me before. However I just got a job as a waitress I tend to be a little more understanding now. Sometimes when you are rolling you don't see a little bit of food or dirt, but also sometimes things get spilled on the bin with all the silverware. I would never get mad at anyone for asking for new silverware, I always feel bad. The cockroach is a little much and sounds like a sign of a unclean restauarant all around!

as a former waiter, I would have (and still would) call that disgusting. However, to be fair, maybe it was rolled by another server on another shift.

A conscientious server will gladly replace the silverware, and try to make up for it in some way. No one should have to see dirty silverware, but, then, no one should have to bear undue blame either.

If it happens frequently at the same restaurant, management and corporate offices should be notified.

Oh man, one time that happened to my grandma, and the waitress got ULTRA PISSED. I mean, my grandma was kinda rude cuz she was upset, but this waitress went and got a big handful of wet silverware and dumped it on the table. Haha
