I have two high end combo machines that both have the same problem - the "laser eye" is misreading or is need of repair. They both went "down" in less than 3 years - no, I did NOT buy the extended warranty.

Is there a cheap way to repair these things? Quotes I have are for $250.00 but I feel the repair shops would rather I just leave them there and this would give them the economic opportunity to then re-sell or keep for themselves.

I am tired of this so I went and purchased the "cheap" model (laughs to self and thinks this one will out last the others) and it works just as good and easier to use.

I recently purchased an Xbox 360 Pro. I wanted the pro because it has the white case, and it matches the HTiB from Pioneer made specifically for the Xbox. I also purchased the Microsoft HDMI cable with audio adapter, as I wanted to have an HDMI signal passed to the TV, and the audio goes to the receiver. The problem I am encountering is that when I plug in the HDMI and the AV adapter into the Xbox and then turn on the TV, it cannot recognize that the HDMI cable is in HDMI 1. When I take out the AV adapter for the audio and JUST have HDMI, the TV recognizes it, and i get a picture and sound.
So in order for me to get a picture, the AV adapter cannot be plugged into the system when the HDMI port is being used. In case you were wondering, the reciever for the surround sound cannot even detect that the Xbox is outputting Dolby Digital.
My question is should I return and exchange my Xbox 360 as the AV port may be faulty when used with the HDMI cable? Or is it the TV?
Any help is appreciated

I want to hook an off the air HD antenna up to an HD 720p projector. What is the best way to do this? I want to keep the cost as low as possible without sacrificing 720p HD quality. The antenna has an RF connector. The projector has HDMI inputs, as well as component and vga inputs. I know I could buy a DVR and connect the antenna to it, and then connect the DVR to the projector. But, are there any other options? I would like to do it for less than $50 if possible....the goal is to eventually get an HD capable DVR. Thanks!

It fixes when I pause it for a few seconds, but it gets kind of annoying. Is this a trait of upconverting DVD players. Could mine be defective? Is there a way to fix this?

I've a Phlips and a Sony, both have only stereo outputs and Optical. I dont have an optical decoder, but an old RCA Dolby Prologic one, talking to a friend he says the RCA simulates 4.1 and I say the left and right outputs from most DVD players carry 5.1 signal which is decoded by a decoder like my RCA or better ones (7.1 etc)
Do I really have 4.1 or just stereo audio?

I went to Comcast to get my HD cable box today. When they gave it to me, they said "hey we don't have any HDMI cables right now, so I'm gonna give you the component wires, and you can come back in a couple days and get it." I go home hook it up with out these so-called "HDMI cables" and it appears to work fine, HD channels and all. My question is, why do I need these HDMI cables and what do they do that's different than these "component wires"???

When Video Cassette Recording was the latest technology Disney brought out of the “Vault” some of it’s oldest films. Films like Snow White and Cinderella. They encouraged everyone to rush out and get a copy before they put them back in the “Vault” just as VCRs were going away for the new DVD technology to emerge.

Three of the films that have been once again out of the “Vault” and available on DVD are now being advertised as going back in the “Vault”. Cinderella, Cinderella II and Cinderella III are going back in the “Vault” by January 31, 2007.

Now that we own them on VCR and DVD and the DVD technology is getting old they are going back in the “Vault” again.

How long do you think it will be before they will be out of the “Vault” once again on HD-DVD or BluRay DVD?

I have a home theatre setup, where, when I sit facing the screen, my equipment rack comes to the right side of me, just next to the seats. I have placed my subwoofer between the equipment rack and the right side wall.

Now the problem-
The distance of my subwoofer from the listening position is around 2 metres (if measured in a straight line). There is my equipment rack in this path and while sitting the subwoofer is not even visible because of this. When I use automatic setup with a microphone, I get a distance of 7 metres (I suspect that this is after a bounce from some wall). Is there some other way to calculate for this kind of sub placement?

I don't want to change the sub position as this placement gives me the best low frequency response, with no smearing, tight, and without any boom. The listening position also has to remain the same. The subwoofer is a front firing, ported design.

Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks.
