There is no room behind, and the detailed instructions for the system don't mention this, only mention what to do if any speakers are nearer than others.
Is it best to use only front speakers in this case?

Is there any free/open source/demo version program that can calculate room modes and then with regards to the room modes, the ideal speaker and listening positions ? ( I am not going to manually sit and plot all modes by dividing 565 by dimensions and then calculating for speakers.)

I have a 100 watts(per channel) HT Receiver, I haven't decided yet what kind of speakers to buy. Is it much better to buy a speaker whose rms is greater than 100 watts(per speaker) or less than? Some of my friends told me to buy a speaker less than the power of my receiver, to be exact, 3/4 of the power of the receiver. (>75 watts) Is it true? can you give me some advice.

My tv is broken downstairs so Im gonna use my laptop to put high school musical 2 on for my niece. I had already put a dvd on before this one and it worked fine. I put the hsm2 dvd in and instead of coming up with what I can play it with (i.e media player, real player, win dvd ect) a file opened with 2 folders in, one named audio and the other named video. I went in the folders and nothing was in both of them. Why doesnt this dvd work on my laptop? Its not a copied dvd its a real one I bought. Anyone know how to get it to play?

Yeah I did ask this in another category, but it wasnt any help.

what is meant by a "warm" sound vs. (i guess) straight power.

I am trying to decide between a denon (which has been praised for having clean/transparent power), and an onkyo receiver (which is said to have a "warm" sound.

I just upgraded my TV to a 46" LCD but I'm having trouble finding a stand that has room for my components (tuner, tivo), games console, and center speaker. I had been resting the center channel atop my rear projection TV but that isnt' an option. Any suggested solutions or stands?

We recently got a 60" hdtv. Now I want to get an hddvd player. I've noticed that a lot of dvd players say up conversion. Does that mean they play high def dvds or just upconvert anything you play. Anything I should know about would be greatly appreciated

Does anyone own a pair of Sennheiser 595? Sennheiser 555? Bose on-ear? Bose around-ear?

Yeah, I'm pretty much stuck between Bose and Sennheiser, specifically those models. Does the 595s have better sound quality then Bose?

It would be appreciated that an actual owner would answer this question.

I'm looking to buy surround sound for my home living room. I found a yamaha air surround home theater system. It has one center unit and 1 subwoofer. It claims that this will create surround sound just like a multiple speaker system. I don't want to mount to the walls, so it seems great, but will it really do the trick ?

My living room has 3 walls and one open section connecting the the kitchen.. will that cause the surround sound not to work as efficiently?

I have a Denon AVR 3803 and I just inherited a Onkyo TX-DS696. I know the Denon has more power and is 7.1 instead of 5.1. I'm wondering which to use to as my main receiver for my plasma, dvd, and time warner cable box. My cable and plasma support HDTV. Which unit would be best for HDTV and for the best quality sound?

I only have 5 speakers currently so the 7.1 of the denon doesn't make too much difference.

I know these aren't the best out there(far from it) I just want to buy my son a basic Home Theatre reciever.

The Sony:
http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&productId=8198552921665061593

The Yamaha: http://www.yamaha.com/yec/products/productdetail.html?CNTID=552126&CTID=5000400&ATRID=1000&DETYP=ATTRIBUTE

He told me he's gonna mostly listen to music on it, he wants clean sound, and low frequencies for his subwoofer.

Thanks.

I have a Sony up-convert to full 1080p dvd player with HDMI. A Panasonic 56" full 1080p rear projection tv with HDMI and I have an HDMI connector going from the dvd player to the tv. My question is do I need an HDMI receiver to go along with the other two? I have surround sound to go along with everything but the receiver I am using now is about 5 years old and does not have an HDMI input. o I need a new one? Thanks in advance for the help.

My dvd player just gave in and I am thinking of replacing it with a dvd home theater system. I would really appreciate some suggestions.
I don't want to blow my roof off, I just want better sound than what my tv provides at the moment. I don't care for extra frills and dials. In my quick research I read that a reciever is important and for it to be surround 5.1 at least with dolby digital and/or DTS (whatever that means-not exactly elecktro smart)
I have a $400-$500 budget.
Are these things compatable with most tvs? mine is almost 3 years old but not a flat screen plasma type.

I have a new Pioneer DVD player, but I also still have a Pioneer Laserdisc player, because some of the stuff I have on LD is not available on DVD. But whenever I use my remote control for my DVD player, it also tries to work on the LD player. So when I'm watching a movie on DVD, anything I do (power, play, skip, etc) also affects LD player, which I want to leave off at that time. Is there a way to make it NOT recognize the remote?

I bought a new HDTV and want to watch DVD's. I don't want to buy a DVD player that you put one DVD in, then take it out and put in another one. I have a stereo that holds 50 CD's and you can just pick a number and play it. Is there such a thing as a DVD player that holds several DVD's and you can just pick which one you want to play? Thank you in advance.
