Everything I have ever heard from Bose (Accoustimass subwoofer/satellites, Vave radio, and loudspeakers) have muddy bass, lack of midrange, and hissy treble. So, I would assume their headphones sound like that, too.
I have a two-year-old pair of Sennheiser HD 560's and they are awesome. The bass is tight and low, the midrange is very present, and the highs are crystal clear. The last two sets of headphones I've had were Sennheisers (used to have a 10-year-old set of HD506's, but the cable got caught and they ripped off my head one day and broke - so I replaced them with the HD560's). I will never own headphones by any other manufacturer.
Also, Senheisser stocks replacement parts for any headphones they ever made. You can get them directly from the factory. So, you never have to worry about replacing the whole headphone set if a part breaks (I found this out after I bought the HD560's).
Bose is overpriced and you will be disappointed with them if you later listen to the Sennheisers. Trust me on this.

I own [2] pair of Sennheisers , and I tell you they have the sound quality that I have been looking for for the longest and that is because I also have the right sound adjustments made to my Media file (as far as sound wise) and to my Home Theater, as far as the Bose I sampled them and they to me could be better if the program they were running off had the right set up for them. So to answer your question on my behalf I think it depends on whether the Sennheiser, or the Bose have the right playback modifications in other words it is up to the person[s]. But! I am not trading my Sennheisers in the near future.....No!!!!
