Is there any free/open source/demo version program that can calculate room modes and then with regards to the room modes, the ideal speaker and listening positions ? ( I am not going to manually sit and plot all modes by dividing 565 by dimensions and then calculating for speakers.)

I am talking about a pair of floor-standing speakers (B&W) for stereo only.

Are you talking about one set of speakers specifically?

Some speakers are critical about placement but it's trial and error. These things are nearly impossible to calculate accurately. Most speakers will require a burn-in period before you can do placement testing. Some speakers have spatial componants/capabilities that may reduce the issues in finding a good placement.

Other than that, if your using a 5.1 or better setup then the rough placement should be followed.

Otherwise talk to the speaker manufactures directly for details specific to that speaker.
