Hi I do see beautiful awesome picture but, no sound. What item do I need & how does it look like? I do not have or use 5 or 7 speakers for home theater. Just my HDTV speakers only.

I have 38'' Philips HDTV/LCD & with 768P.

*Thank you for your help! :)

HD DVD players have HDMI out, which is an audio and video signal. DVI is only a video signal. On your TV you should have a set of red and white analog inputs next to the DVI input. You will need to purchase a set of regular analog red and white cables, and connect them, to that input and to the red and white inputs on the back of the HD DVD player.

Does your TV support HDMI or DVI-D? If not an HD-DVD player or Blu-ray may not play in 1080i, since you would be using Component Video as a connection. If your TV does support HDMI then yes, the player can output in 1080i. lastly, I would recommend if you are really consious of what format will win, consider getting the new LG HD-DVD/Blu-ray player, so you'll be set to go!

I suspect you need Left/Right audio cables running from the DVD player to the jacks near the DVI inputs on the TV.

DVI is video only (Digital Video Interface). By converting it over, you don't lose picture quality, but you lose your sound support. You'll have to run separate audio cables in order to get sound.

By default it might be set to hdmi only not composit. Look in your settings on your surround system to fix the problem. and I believe you have a 720 progressive refersh system not a 768. Good Luck.
