So just a little while ago I decided htat i was going to restart my computer. It came normally, then something comes up saying something about C: drive or something. It says It is recomended that I do it. This is before I log on or anything. It right after its done loading. I clicked cancel because I wasn't sure what it was doing. So then I got out of it. I ran adaware and for rid of everything and ran Norton andspysweeper. It found nothing. Do you think it is just something that has to be done or do you still think its a virus? I am usually very good with computers but i am not sure what this is. Should i let this run and then see what happens?

I have windows 2000 professional on my laptop and every time i try to go to the add/remove program it gives me a message saying object not found line:82, and it won't bring up any programs, just a blank box. What could be wrong and what can i do to fix this?

Here is the exact message i get.......an unexpected error occurred. Object doesn't support this property or method res://sp3res.dll/default.hta Line: 82.

Question # 1 I bought my Compaq Presario 5100 almost 6 years ago for home use. Twice I have done a clean erase.....erasing everything down to the hard drive..... It has had very heavy use, is never turned completely off, but is restarted a couple of times a week. I have replaced the cd disk drive and added more memory, and replaced the mouse. I was wondering how many more years I can expect the hard drive to last ?

Question #2 I run Spybot Search and Destroy, AVG anti spyware 7.5, Windows Defender, Diskeeper, Spyware Terminator, and Ad-Aware........do I need all these, and which, if any, should I get rid of ?

I am attempting to save my school work on my USB memory stiuck and it will not allow me to save my work, it say's that the software & hardware is "WRITE-PROTECTED". This has happened off and on throughout the semester with my memory stick???? I do not want this on and I clicked the disable off on the usb program... Any suggestions

I have tried to do this already but no luck ! It keeps coming back as filed but cannot open them because it says improper filing codes DAT file. I'm kinda new to computers so I'd appreciate help on this. I just want to permanently put the archived conversations in a private and personal file form that can be opened and contents are accessable. Is there any way to do this? Please HELP!!!! I will try to explain this the best I can please bear with me. SOMETIMES when I type (in an Email Letter) for instance, if I make a mistake and catch it before I finish the email, (and I go back into the paragraph) and backspace to correct the miss-spelling, I have to rewrite the whole thing from the beginning of the word forward untill I get to where I can continue with the email. This also happens in Word Pad too. This only happens sometimes, and it is a hassle to have to rewrite the whole thing over. Say I have a Sentance in the first part of the Paragraph, and I go back to that Sentance to correct a misspelling, and if the Paragraph is, lets say, ten (10) Sentances long, I have to retype the whole ten (10) Sentances. I hope I am making sense. Thanks for any help.

Ok I need to know whether or not the system restore works by it self, like saves a restore point. And if so can you tell me how i would be able to acess it, like move it. And how long can system restore point stay if you put them in manually. Is it possible that i can save my files to a external hard drive then restore and then put the files from the external hard drive in to the computer.

Oh boy, this might be a really dumb question, but can you? I think I heard that you can go to WalMart or something and they can do it. I'm going to a stagette party this weekend, and I want to be able to post the pics to the net, but I don't wanna risk losing or wrecking my digital camera.

I now own one computer in my home. It is a desktop with a tower.
My internet connection is a cable that comes through the wall and plugs into a cable modem, this modem provides internet service (128K) to this desktop pc.
Within a few weeks or months I plan to buy a new (or possibly refurbished) laptop. Question: Will I need to connect my new laptop to this cable modem? Someone told me since the laptop will likely be "wireless" that I will NOT have to attach the laptop to the cable modem.
Then someone else told me that even though the laptop I buy will be likely be a "wireless laptop" that I will still have to find a way to connect the laptop to the cable modem to have an internet connection.
Any suggestions ?

Well the problem is that I cannot click on anything on my taskbar. Every time I attempt to click on the taskbar I get that one of those windows error sounds. I'm completely stuck help please.
