hi,

i have a nVidia geForce 4 ti4200 128MB graphics card, and i am considering buying a 22" widescreen monitor (1680 x 1050 ).

I am just wondering if this is possible? will my graphics card support this resolution? I only use my computer for programming, internet browsing, instant messaging, so graphics demands are not high at all.

cheers

I have been given a Packard Bell PC. My monitor (which works on other pcs) won't work with this one. When the pc first powers up the monitor works for 30 seconds and shows that windows is starting up but then the screen goes black. There is no sound card in the pc - could this be the reason my monitor won't work with it?

our computer recently had problems, so we did a system restore after backing up our files...we have a widescreen monitor, and when we changed the resolution from the default (which was much too low) to 1600 x 900, my digital pictures look squashed. I tried setting it to 1400 x 1050, but the compuer wouldn't let me- it said "input not supported."
Would this setting make my pictures look like they should?
Is there some update, which the computer didn't have in the factory condition to which we restored it, which would allow me to set the resolution to this size?

thanks for the help.

My roommate was dusting her computer, and when she was done, the screen was upside down! The monitor itself, is right-side up, of course, but the picture on the monitor is upside-down. I've never seen this before. Does anyone know how this might have happened, and how to put it back?

What am i supposed to do?
ok so i bought this laptop http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?... and it was great until the screen blacked out, if u read one of the reviews is says:

"I had some issue that made the screen black. I would have to manually push the on/off button to get the monitor to work again. I read that other Toshibas laptops have had this problem. To fix this problem I turned the Processor setting up. It seemed to do the trick. No more black screen. Are any of you having this issue? Other than that this unit is a steal."

so how do i turn the processor setting up?? can u tell me step by step where to go and wat to do??

thank u!!

Hey. So I managed to knock my LG Flatron LCD Monitor, which cost me over £250 when i bought it :(, off the edge of my desk. It seems to have landed on my mouse, therefore cracking. It seems that the (excuse my limited knowledge :p) outter screen has not been damaged, but if i feel the screen it feels like think Broken Ice, if you will... 3/4 of the screen went white when turned on and a mass of multicoloured lines runs through this white background. The other 1/4 of the screen works as normal. Does this damage sound repairable or would the cheaper alternative be to simply buy a new monitor? Any help would be much appreciated, thanks in advance.

I just got a Samsung LNT-4071F 40" LCD TV (1080P, 120Hz, 25000:1 contrast) and a XFX Alpha Dog 8800 GT (670MHz, 512MB) card. Trying to get the best performance out of it, so I had some questions (and this is all new to me).
- XP is listing the monitor as a generic running at 60Hz. The TV runs at 120Hz. Do I need to either change the Hz in windows (there isn’t any other Hz listed though), or is there a profile for the TV I can find? I figure since the Samsung has a ‘game mode’ and a computer input that they would have some kind of profile for XP.
- I’m running a DVI to HDMI cable. Is there anything I need to do to make the image high definition? (A setting or something) Or is it automatically running in HD.
- Okay, I’ll make this easy. Can anyone tell me what I need to make sure I do to get it running the best it can? Any settings for the TV, video card, or in XP itself that I need to change? Thanks for any advice.

I've tried adjusting the monitor settings, resetting it to default, etc and nothing has helped. Is my monitor going out (less than 2 years old) or is there something I can adjust to fix it? Thanks!
