All magnets will effect CRT monitors.
the question is how much field do the speakers give off, and how close are they to the monitor.
If you have magnetically shielded speakers and you are not sitting them hard up against the monitor then you will probably see no effect at all from them.

Usually you won't have a problem unless the speakers are directly next to the monitor. Four inches is very much on the safe side, so it isn't any extreme.

Yeah i heared that it will. In fact, i've witnessed that my new AKAI 29 inch TV(6 months old) was showing some streaks of colour on the sides. Later a television repairer asked me to move away my 5.1 speakers away from the TV

Multimedia speakers have enough shielding so it shouldn't effect the screen. Aluminum foil applied to the side of the speakers will increase shielding. Don't apply to monitor it will over heat.

yes it will affect ur monitor but it will not damage it very fast. if u put ur speaker near to ur monitor u will see some different coloros in conrner or ur monitor screen and if u will remove it it will be normal. means if u keep it very near to ur monitor after long time ur monitors tube will be damaged. safe to keep it away from monitor.
