The monitor may be broken, or something may be wrong with the video card.

Make sure the cable from the monitor is securely fastened to the computer, and all your power cords are plugged in.

There are multiple problems....you should plug in the power cord from the monitor to the socket if there is no power...

You turn on you computer and it is running.. and you turn on your monitor and you see nothing....

First your Video card is dead or your RAM... or even both... the only way to know is if you can switch and test your problem.
What blows about this is that I know you do not have extra computer parts laying about.. so you'd have to bring it in to a computer store for them to diagnose.

The monitor is not receiving a signal from the computer, because the graphics On-board,(integrated), or the graphics card isn't working,(may be due to corruption of drivers, or loss due to System Restore), or it's just a faulty monitor cable!

The number one reason is that the monitor is unplugged. Check the snugness.

The power cord, is it snug?

The one place that most people forget is the power button on the front of the monitor

verify the capability cable for the show screen an ensure the show screen is became on. If no longer, verify the relationship from the show screen to the returned of the pc. If no success, ensure the video card is seated wisely on the motherboard. If nevertheless no success, call your pc producer's technical help for further suggestions.

could be your monitor is not plugged in correctly, either to its power source or to the VGA. could also be that if you have installed a video card, you havent specified it in the BIOS,and it will try to view on the VGA even tho you're connected to the PCI, AGP, or PCI-E slot.

maybe you're monitors broken.. or your fried your motherboad or processor and it simply wont work no more (happened to me a couple time - i hate static electricity)
