My roommate was dusting her computer, and when she was done, the screen was upside down! The monitor itself, is right-side up, of course, but the picture on the monitor is upside-down. I've never seen this before. Does anyone know how this might have happened, and how to put it back?

I've seen some graphics cards that do this. The one that I personally have experience with had a set of keys to press to turn the screen to a different orientation. Perhaps this is that happened to your roommate's computer.
I suggest pressing Ctrl and one of the arrow keys, that's what worked for me at least.

Otherwise, you might want to look up documentation on the manufacturer's web site.

Hope this helps

Scary - our cat fell asleep on the monitor and turned the desktop sideways. This Ctrl-alt-uparrow is great.
What's scary is how did the cat know which keys to hit?

It was so stupid of whoever create the possibility to turn the monitor like that in first place. It is really annoying. I was working on my PC and my kid came to me and lay on the keyboard and the monitor got upside down.

see if the monitor has any buttons on the front. click around the options and see if theres anything that could have done it.

otherwise (and i highly doubt she did this by dusting) try this:

right click on your desktop
click properties
click settings
click advanced
hopefully your video card (mine is ATI) puts more tabs than the basic WinXP...click around andlook for a tab or buttons labeled labeled rotation.

if that doesnt work, check your video card docs.
