i want to store my monitor in a small closet but it will only fit if i lay it horizontally, so i'm wondering if that would be safe? if it is what precautions should i take?

Fold up bed sheet and place the monitor screen side down on it.

This is perfectly safe, because in fact, this is the orientation in which monitors are assembled. I my college's computer lab there are over 100 monitors in storage of all types and styles, all of which are stored in this way, and all of them work perfectly well when they are needed.

Won't make a difference which way you lay a monitor for any length of time. I've stored monitors for years laid every possible way.

What gave you the idea that it might affect it?

Just don't use it as a step-stool when you need to reach the top shelf.

It will be fine.

YES IT IS MAKE SURE YOU DON'T PUT IT
NEXT TO ANYTHING WITH MAGNETS
AND WRAP IT WITH A SHEET OR TOWEL
