our computer recently had problems, so we did a system restore after backing up our files...we have a widescreen monitor, and when we changed the resolution from the default (which was much too low) to 1600 x 900, my digital pictures look squashed. I tried setting it to 1400 x 1050, but the compuer wouldn't let me- it said "input not supported."
Would this setting make my pictures look like they should?
Is there some update, which the computer didn't have in the factory condition to which we restored it, which would allow me to set the resolution to this size?

thanks for the help.

You need to set the resolution to the native resolution of the monitor. It should be in the user guide, or look it up online.

Once you have done that, use a viewer that does not force the picture to fill the window it is being displayed in.

Both the Windows Photo Editor, and thew Windows Picture and Fax Viewer work this way.
