I upgrade from my 21" sony trintron crt monitor to a samsung syncmaster 226bw 22" 2ms LCD Monitor.

It seems i am getting a little bit of terring and even lower fps on most games than my crt monitor put out. I am using the DVI Connection. my system is plenty fast to run every game i have. I have had it about 4 months now and it has never had any fps problems in games until I switched monitors.

my system config:
AMD AM2 5200+ dual core oc 2.8ghz
2x 1gig sticks DDR2 800 memory oc to 4-4-4-12 CL2
(OCZ Crossfire cert memory with ATi coolers)
MSI K9a Platinum socket AM2 crossfire 3200 MB
Radeon X1950 crossfire edition 512mb DDR4
Radeon X1950xtx 512mb DDR4 in crossfire
2x 160gig sata 3.0 hard drives in Raid 0
crap tones of cooling for the overclocking.

all runs stable but im lossing fps with this LCD, maybe LCD is just a lost cause for now?

Today I did a complete system restore on my computer and had to reload all the softwares and what not.
Everything on the screen is huge and when I go to "Display Properties" to change the screen resolution, it does not give me an option to change. It is only on 16bit. Does anyone know what to do?

Thank you very much.

I recenlty purchased a Vista notebook, that has a widescreen display. Most of my older programs run, but naturally, some of the especially old ones, have no resolution setting for widescreen displays, so everything is stretched, and I cannot adjust the ratio.

I have a theory, of getting a hex editor and screwing around with the tags and fudging the display so that when I check the highest resolution, it will display in the one i manually entered in the codes--

Before I risk corrupting something, however, I was wondering if there were a way to get my widescreen monitor to display a smaller, standard ratio (with some black on the sides) in order to make my stretched applications, appear normal?

~Just to clarify, for example what i am thinking, if any of you have a portable DVD player, there is usually a button that will switch the little monitor between display modes, like 16:9/4:3... now of course there is no switch on my laptop, but I was wondering if i could mimic the effect.

The highest setting on the computer is 1024x768, and I don't know how to get it to a widescreen setting. I've also updated/downloaded the right driver for the monitor, but I don't know how to make the resolution work. (I'm trying to get it not to look like the screen is all stretched to accomodate the wide screen.)

I have an HP Pavilion 50f flatscreen monitor, but I no longer have the power cord for it. it doesn't have the normal 3-prong hook-up, but a small round one with 4 little holes. I have been to office max, office depot, best buy, radio shack, and nobody carries this, nor does anybody know about it. Does anyone know where I can buy one?

I just bought a new 19" Envision Widescreen LCD Monitor for my computer. When I first used it, it told me for the best quality resolution I should set the resolution to 1440x900. When I went into the settings on my desktop, the highest option I had was 1360x768. How would I go about getting the 1440x900? Do I need to download a driver or something?

resolution is 800 by 600 pixels, with color quality (32 bit). My monitor type is HANSOL 720 ED, my PC is Celeron 1200, 128 Mb RAM, HDD 20 Gb. That is all I know about my PC. How do I get to know about my PC video card and input type?

Actually I don't know what video card is inside my above described computer. As I am planning on buying a LCD monitor, would like to know whether interface is important or it doesn't matter? Thanks.

I scroll the mouse around on a blank screen, and tap the space bar repeatedly for half a minute sometimes before the screen finally "wakes up". I want to just be able to nudge the mouse and it wakes up. I've seen some computers that seem to do that.

I'd like to get a flat-panel lcd monitor to use with my laptop and for watching tv/movies.

What monitor would you recommend? I'm looking for something that's around the 20" range.

And how DO I watch TV on it? I looked around and read that I'd need a TV Tuner or Slingbox? No idea what those are =P...sorry not a techie person. (Can't I just connect the cable line to the monitor?)
