I just bought a new 19" Envision Widescreen LCD Monitor for my computer. When I first used it, it told me for the best quality resolution I should set the resolution to 1440x900. When I went into the settings on my desktop, the highest option I had was 1360x768. How would I go about getting the 1440x900? Do I need to download a driver or something?

Okay, so I went to the Envision website and downloaded their latest driver for my monitor. Then I followed their step by step directions on how to install it with Windows XP. I did everything, and installed the driver correctly. I restarted the computer as well, but in the settings, the highest resolution I can set is still the same. There is no 1440x900 still.

Yes, you need to download the most updated driver software for your video card.

You can find this at the PC manufacturer's website. Then simply install it by following the directions once you open the file and you should have the options.

You need the drivers for the video card, not for the monitor.

On the Display Properties screen where you set the resolution there should be a line like:

Plug and Play monitor on XXXXXX

The XXXXXX is your video chipset. Go to the website for that company and download the driver for your chipset.

maybe, if your screen came with a CD i would sugest installing the driver with it, but most PCs are plug and play so they should know you have a large screen, also depending on the age of your computer it might not have the graphics ability to run that high, in which case you might also need to go and grab a cheap video card to get full use of your new screen
