It is very likely that your PC has analog (VGA) output only. LCD w/ DVI input would still work with an adapter. Most LCD monitors have dual sockets (VGA and DVI).

I very much doubt that your system has a DVI output unless you have added a graphics card recently. So it will have a VGA connector for the video.
So buying a monitor with a DVI interface is a bit pointless, unless you plan to upgrade your system in the near future.
If you can get a DVI interface for the same price as a VGA only there would be no reason not to buy it, allmost all DVI monitors either have a DVI connector plus a VGA or a DVI-I connector which can connect to a VGA output. so you will still be able to connect it to your system.
Someone else raised a good point. LCD monitors look their best at their native resolution, so make sure that your system is capable of going up to the resolution of the monitor. Widescreen resolutions often require a video driver update, so you might want to check to see if an update for your system is out there and that it supports widescreen modes.

The monitor with DVI interface depends a lot on the graphics card installed in the pc.If the graphics card has a DVI interface then your monitor will dispay pictures with maximum clarity and sharpness .Otherwise if your computer graphics card doesnt have DVI port and has a VGA port then see to it that your monitor has a VGA compatible interface or buy a VGA interface adapter .For very clear information on it you can visit the blog page www.crossaffairs.blogspot.com

no it is like if you have intagraded video it might not power a good digital monitor.
Then you would have to use a regular vga monitor. The dell 2400 series is famous for not powering a digital flat panel unless they actually have a stand alone video card.
So if you buy a monitor with a dvi connector make sure your computer will power it before you get an adapter if you dont have a dvi port on your computer.

Your question is a bit confusing. But lets assume that your pc has a DVI/VGA Input. Then you can use a monitor with a vga or DVI Interface.
I would upgrade the computer. 128MB is way to little memory for anything. And 20GB thats to little of a Hard drive.

Yes but make sure a DVI converter switch to old monitor input comes in the box. Since the output of your videocard wont have dvi out .

The only thing that really can be a hang up in some cases Drivers can be required to make it work. But in most cases on Newer Stuff if the plug works then try it if it doesn't work it may require drivers for the moniter to be downloaded.

it wont make any diference unless you are planning on using the DVI, however if you are buying a widescreen monitor you need to make sure you graphics support the ressolution.
