Hiya Jae,

It is very easy for anyone to do this using any computer, and without opening the case.

1) Retail cash register system: The new monitor needs to be facing the customer and very close to the existing monitor.

This is the easiest and cheapest way because most register systems use standard VGA monitors. The only thing to buy is a VGA splitter cable. One side of this "Y" cable plugs into the computer where the original monitor is now and both monitors plug into the other end. That’s it! Both monitors now show the same picture. The cable costs between $5 and $15 dollars and here is what it looks like:

This will work great if the new monitor will be near the computer. If the new monitor will be more then 8 feet away from the computer then you may need to boost the signal using a splitter / amplifier box.

2) New monitor will be more then 8 feet away from computer:

This is still very easy to do but costs a bit more. You need to buy a VGA splitter box that has a signal amplifier built in. The connections are much the same as above, where a cable will go from the box to the computer where the monitor is now plugged in and then both monitors will plug into the box. That’s it! Both monitors now show the same picture. The cost of this type of box is between $20 and $100 and here is what it looks like:

GOOD LUCK!!

I take it that you want to run two monitors, both showing the same thing so that you can see one and your customer can see the other.

You can:
Get a video splitter box. This will take the signal from the computer and reproduce it on multiple monitors.

Get a video card with dual outputs. Connect a monitor to each output and configure the system to run in mirror mode.
