I have a problem with my HP pavilion F1703 monitor. The backlightning doesn't work. This is due to a manufacturing error, so thousands of people have encountered this problem. My warranty isn't void anymore, so I have to fix the problem myself. I have found a way to fix the problem, but it involves opening the monitor case and resolding a solder joint. The solding isn't a problem, but I don't seem to be able to remove the monitor case. Can someone explain me how I can remove it, this would mean a great deal to me, because now I face having to buy a whole new monitor. Thanx!

Dell monitor, 2-3 years old. Worked great this morning, shut down properly. When I fired it up tonight, it was stuck in 4-bit resolution mode. Right clicked on desktop, preferences, settings. Won't give me any choices other than the 4-bit. How do I fix?

Please tell me the best LCD monitor for text, since I don't play games on it. Just for a lot of the internet and Microsoft Word. I want the text and graphics as big as possible without having to alter settings. Please help! I have a 15" CRT at 800 x 600 now and it's easy on the eyes.

i bought a 17 inch samsung display unit (monitor) and the package said it was 1280 x 1080 resolution. But when I make the resolution above i could'nt see anything. Everything becomes too small. Only 800 x 600 looks ok in the monitor.

Is there any way to get the above resolution with clear viewing in a 17'' monitor.

I just received a new Samsung SyncMaster 215tw 21" Widescreen. The images on the screen seem compressed and somewhat fuzzy.

Graphics Card: NVIDIA Quadro FX 3400/4400

Any recommendations?

My monitor keeps turning off irregularly when the PC is on, and sometimes will not go on if i switch it on, although it occasionally does work.
It says "Power-Saving Mode - DVI" right before it turns off.
I've tried readjusting the cables slightly, or replugging them, which helps sometimes, although i'm told that is not the cause of the problem. Is it possible for the monitor not to be recieving any signal from the computer? Or is it an option set, that can be modified somewhere in the settings?

Help!

Will it break or burn out anything if I do?

People at my workplace seem to do it and not mind much, but I think it may be causing serious damage to the motherboard or the graphics card.

The instructions did not tell me anything about the DVI cable. Do I need to hook up both the VGA (Signal Cable) and the DVI cable? Samsung said yes, Staples said no. Monitor won't work, although there's power. On hold with Samsung for Level II support for 1 hour until disconnected. Do I need both cables connected? If so, I need an adapter, because I do not have a DVI port. It keeps popping up on screen, digital , then analog. I suppose it is asking me to choose, but can't get anywhere. The instructions don't say anything.

The past couple of days, i turned on my computer, but the monitor flashed and everything turned off/got shut down instantly. My cousin is currently fixing it and said that it had to do with the Motherboard.

I had to end up using another computer instead, but if i swapped or bought a new motherboard, will every single file in that computer be deleted???

Can anyone please tell me?
