My monitor keeps turning off irregularly when the PC is on, and sometimes will not go on if i switch it on, although it occasionally does work.
It says "Power-Saving Mode - DVI" right before it turns off.
I've tried readjusting the cables slightly, or replugging them, which helps sometimes, although i'm told that is not the cause of the problem. Is it possible for the monitor not to be recieving any signal from the computer? Or is it an option set, that can be modified somewhere in the settings?

Help!

It's an LG monitor (flatron L1710B) if you need to know.

Sounds like your Computer/Monitor is set to "Power Saving Mode" which means it is set to turn off after a certain amount of time if the computer is inactive (not in use) so to solve this you might want to do the following:

1-Right click your mouse on the desktop screen and hit properties
2-A display properties windows will open so hit the "Screen Saver" button.
3-Then hit the "Power..." button
4-Then hit the little arrow down where it says "Turn off monitor" and choose Never.
5-Press OK at the bottom of the screen and you are done
hope this help
good luck

Sounds like your monitor is dead. It may be worth plugging in a different computer or a laptop just to check, but I doubt it'll be any better. If it works on another PC, then it could be the graphics card - easily replaceable in a desktop PC. Alternatively it could be something as simple as your Power Save settings - does it turn off when you've not touched a key or the mouse for a few minutes? Easily changed in Power Options in Control Panel.

Some monitors have a power saving/sleep function separate from the computers power saving. You''ll need to check the monitors manual for it.

Check power saving options it might be set to turn the monitor off after a time, if not used.

It seems you are not alone in experiencing this problem. It seems that you have tried everything so if possible borrow a monitor from someone and try to work with that one. If no problems, that means the monitor has gone bad. If you see same problems, then replace the cables. Good luck.
