The instructions did not tell me anything about the DVI cable. Do I need to hook up both the VGA (Signal Cable) and the DVI cable? Samsung said yes, Staples said no. Monitor won't work, although there's power. On hold with Samsung for Level II support for 1 hour until disconnected. Do I need both cables connected? If so, I need an adapter, because I do not have a DVI port. It keeps popping up on screen, digital , then analog. I suppose it is asking me to choose, but can't get anywhere. The instructions don't say anything.

You can only connect one but not both. If you don't have a DVI port, you can connect the monitor to the VGA (analog) port of your graphic card.

No you don't need both.....they are just to different ways to hook up the monitor. While DVI is the better interface, VGA will work fine (for most things you can't even notice the difference) And when connected through VGA it should come through the Analog.

i purchased the samsung from staples on black friday and had the same problem. you need not have both connected.my graphics card (ATI x800 pro with 512mb ram) had both, but somehow i had problem with DVI connector it started working only after i wiggled the dvi cable on the back couple of times, but it always worked with analog (d-sub) cable. as prevous responses indicated, there isn't much difference between two. if you get the signal with analog go for it..hope this helps

No, you do not need to have both connected. You can use one or the other, or both. You should have a "source" button on your monitor that will try to find which cable it is connected with. If you are connected with both, then both will work.

make sure the tv is on before u turn on the computer. it has to do with something called hdcp. if that doesnt work then just hook your monitor up to the vga port and configure it that way.
