after 1 or 2 minutes of inactivity. I have tried removing battery and running only dc power, changing all the settings in control panel/display. Any suggetions ? I use it only for email in another room. I know that it is a dinosaur with no power for anything much more.

you can use it in another room but how about your ISP Internet service provider is it plugged on or wireless.If not than you will get a blank screen.Change your setting with window or go to Toshiba software upgrade fro their website.
