In case your Graphics card has a TV-Out feature, you could connect your PC to a TV.
However: A computer monitor has a significant advantage regarding resolution and sharpness.
So while a TV is OK for movie viewing or gaming, you will find that writing or working is a pain, as the picture is extremely blurry.
If you happen to have a HDTV and a graphics card with DVI connection, then your TV will work as a monitor, too.
However if you only have a standard resolution TV its is very adviseable to get a monitor.
And if your graphics card has no TV out feature, you need a monitor either way.

TV and Monitor circuits are same only differance is TV has inbuilt tunner circuit but monitor not. So TV can tune channels but monitor can show images from CPU. U can use TV in place of monitor but u must have a S-Video out on CPU and S-video in on TV. To use monitor as TV u have to use a external TV tunar card that tunes channel and shows on monitor. Good luck !

The difference between a TV and a monitor is that a TV has the type of socket designed to take coaxial cable and tune into TV channels, whereas a monitor has a plug that is designed to plug into a PC.

A television is integrated for both picture and sound and carries both am and fm tuning capabilities. It is also much lower in scan rate according to NTSB standard. Computer monitors on the other hand are video only and normally have a much higher scan rate in order to get the tighter image necessary for word processing and graphics generation. Usually a standard tv has far to low a resolution to give you a proper picture in fact their scan rates are far too slow to even produce. However, many of todays newer models have that capability. Most of the LCD's and Plasma sets are able to display in the 1060i range and are computer compatible. Check with your dealer and be sure to look on the back of the set for either a USB hub or a 9 pin video hook-up.
