How do I change the brightness on my HP laptop monitor? It's too dark.?

If you press fn and then f8 that makes it brighter
If you press fn and then f7 that makes it darker

fn is located at the bottom of the keyboard next to Ctrl on the left side.

If a User's Guide didn't come with the monitor, two things come to mind:

1st, I look for a "help" option.
2nd, I would go to HP's website. Try this:
