i bought a 17 inch samsung display unit (monitor) and the package said it was 1280 x 1080 resolution. But when I make the resolution above i could'nt see anything. Everything becomes too small. Only 800 x 600 looks ok in the monitor.

Is there any way to get the above resolution with clear viewing in a 17'' monitor.

You want to set it to the Native Resolution...it should be listed in the documentation, if not just search for the model number and "Native Resolution"

The monitor or display of a computer is the primary user interface. Monitor problems are some of the most common computer problems since the voltages inside a monitor can be as high as 10 KV. Many of the problems can be fixed yourself by simply changing the settings. Detailed instructions available at http://fixit.in/monitor.html

If you are using an old graphics card it might not be able to work at that resolution
