Screen Resolution
The screen resolution of a computer monitor is the number of pixels that are displayed horizontally and lines displayed vertically (pixels x lines). Common video adapters for PC monitors are VGA (640 x 480), Super VGA (800 x 600) and Super VGA Plus (1024 x 768). However, many graphics card adapters will display screen resolutions above 1024 x 768. In Windows 95/98/NT, the screen resolution can be found and set by going to the Start button on the Taskbar, move to Settings, Control Panel, click on the Display Icon, and then select the Settings Tab. If you are using Windows 3.1 or 3.11 then go to the Main Program group, double-click on the Windows Setup icon, click the options menu, click the Change System Settings option, click the Display Box. This will show you the driver that matches your graphics card.

A computer's graphics card determines the level of detail with which images will be displayed on the attached monitor. The measurement for this detail is called 'resolution'.

A screen resolution is how many pixels are used to display what you see on screen (i.e. 1280x1024)
Make sure your monitor can display the resolution first.
