What determines the speed of a computer? The more memory, the more speed? Does a 2GB memory computer run faster than a 1GB computer or is it something else? Assume I have a moderate high speed connection. Please answer only if you're familiar with Windows hardware. Any suggestions welcome.

...to have less memory than stated ?

For example, I just bought a 350 GB seagate freeagent HD.I checked the disc space on my pc but the capacity's down to 298 GB !!! Can someone tell me if this is defective or something?

i currently own a 8400gs w/256mb ddr2, from EVGA, and my friend wants to trade his EVGA 8500GT w/512 mb DDR2, i do flight simulating, counter strike, HL2, making movies, and internet, should i stick with my current one or trade?
oh and their both PCIE x16 for the idiots that wanna be smart donkeys.

I was talking to a friend about new mother boards. My PCI-E slot went bad on my computer and i really don't want to get a new board. He mentioned some thing about a PCI to PCI-E converter cards. I was wondering if anyone has heard about these? He said it is a card that goes into the PCI slot and then you are able to plug a PCI-E card into it. I hope yall have some answers!

I have gone into device manager and there is nothing resembling USB port .
in the menu Ports there all bluetooth
my removable devices is disable and I want to enable it.

My cell phone doesnt have a usb pory to conect it to the computer all it has is the "thing" to charge it up and the "other thing" to hook up my earplugs, What can i do??!!!!!!!!!!

My computer has only 2 sata slots that are currently being used for the dvd drive and the original hard drive (C.) There is an IDE slot for a ribbon cable that I want to use to add a second IDE hard drive but when I do the computer will not start. I have the jumper set at slave and tried cable select also. Still the computer does not work. Bios settings? What can I do to have one sata hd and one ide hd in my computer working together?

I've tried that same mouse with my girlfriend's pc and it works perfectly fine. But when i plug it in my pc, it requires a disc. There isn't one in the box.

Is that a good sytem for average gameplay - when i say average, i mean games like guild wars, world of warcraft, fable etc...

Also would i be able to run either windows vista premium or vista home basic and get decent running speed?

I looked at the USB specification, but it only cares about the plug. I need to know how to talk about a wireless USB adapter that looks like a flash drive as opposed to a wireless adapter that has a USB cord attached to it.
