Add-ons - May 2007

I just bought an external hard drive and I was told by a friend that I should format it to NTFS, since currently it's FAT32 and supposedly NTFS is better (that's true, right?).

I'm reading stuff about partitioning the drive, but I'm not sure if I need to do it or not. There will be no operating system files on this external drive, just music and photos and stuff. This being the case- do I need a partition? If so, how big a partition do I need? Any info anyone can provide would be great appreciated here, because I'm sort of flying blind, as if you couldn't tell.

THIS IS WHERE I DONT GET IT, THE VIDEO CARD IS A 256 MB VIDEO GRAPHIC CARD NVIDIA GE FORECE 6800 SOMETHING 8 AGP ect... IF I INSTALL THE 512 MB RAM ON MY PC AND THAN INSTALL THE VIDEO CARD ,COULD THE 256 MB VIDEO CARD TAKE SOME OF THE MEMORY FROM THE 512 MB RAM AND MAKE IT LOWER..


THATS WHAT AN OLD CHINESE GUY EXPERT ON COMPUTER TOLD ME .. HE HAD A 256 MB RAM THAN HE INSTALL A VIDEO GRAPHIC CARD , BUT THE VIDEO CARD TOOK MEMORY FROM HIS 256 MB RAM MAKING IT EVEN LOWER UP TO 224 MB RAM INSTEAD OF A 256 MB RAM ..

COULD MY 512 MB RAM GO DOWN BY UPGRADING THE 256 MB VIDEO GRAPHIC CARD NVDIA 6800 8 AGP?

I am getting a new cooling system for my PC. is it possible to have another fan other than the one you have ? if its not, can some one tell me which fan i should buy?
also, can some one tell me which power supply should i buy?
i own a Dell dimension E510. pentium 4 W/H 3.0GH
and 1.24 GB ram.
i am not very good with computers so plz make it simple.

I have an eMachines computer that is four years old and when I looked up what it comes with for memory, it comes with 256MB DDR (PC2100). I've seen some alarming things on answers and I was wondering if that number is the total capacity of my computer or if I could add a memory stick of 512MB or even a 1GB card to increase performance? I saw some people who said that you need to check if your computer can handle the RAM, but I don't know how to do that and I'm pretty sure when it says it has 256MB it just means it came with that much because it says 40GB hard drive but I update that to 80 a couple of years back.

I am re-connecting a web camera to a new computer. However the web camera hasnt been used for a year hence i dont have a cd with the driver for it and the camera does not have a name on it.

i have 512+256=768 MG ram installed on my motherboard.i tested by belarc advisor software and it indicated that i have 736 MG of memory
it means that 32 MG is missing.would you tell me please where is it specified to?

on this motherboard:

ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard

1) I want 2 GB in my computer, so can I get another set of these and put them in the additional slots and get 2GB?

2) If I can, what is better? Having 4 sticks of 512 or two of 1 GB?

If I got two with 1 GB, I would choose these:

OCZ Platinum 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model OCZ4002048ELDCPE-K

3) The price for the new dual 512 sticks is $74 while the new dual 1 gig sticks is $166. I can get both, but I would spend all my money on the latter. Which would you choose?

I have recently reformatted my computer and the drivers I am missing are the ones that will connect me to the internet. They are the network controller, the usb contoller and usb cable modem. I have a link to the computer I have. I have looked everywhere for the drivers and attempted installing some. I use Nvidia Nforce network controller.
