Only vista supports this and the pen drive must meet certain specs. It's called "readyboost". It does not replace ramm, it is a "next step" before virtual memory is used. Ramm= fstest, readyboost= faster, vmemory=slow

My Win98 system performance improved by installing a utility called TurboRAM that frees up unused memory every 20 minutes.

Windows 98 will not support this natively. you may find some 3rd party software to help, but i have not heard of this yet.
