whats the COMMON FILES in program files folder for???

C:\Program Files\Common Files

it is taking up 600++ mb on my hard disc, is there a way to clear/optimize it?

and what about LocalSettings in Document and Settings?
My user's LocalSettings is ALOT ALOT bigger then my sister's, and its taking alot of space

I am running on an IBM Thinkpad R51 1830AHU and have already tried this in the BIOS- unfortunately the BIOS is VERY limited and I have no options for sharing memory or increasing the AGP Aperture size. Are there any applications or programs that can change this? Thanks so much.

at work, we have a massive database in lotus notes. i have been searching for words that i want to be pulled only from titles, not necessarily the body of the files held under the titles. i understand that currently, our lotus notes does search the body as well as the titles, but that takes too long, and it has caused me to break out of lotus notes many times because the hour glass gets "hung up" on a search. i haven't seen any options for title only searches, if there is an availability somehow, someway, please advise. thanks.

I just bought Office 2007 and to be honest I hate it. Usually when I right click an incorrect word on 2003, there would be a list of possible correct words. Now when I right click a ton of useless style menus come up. I don't like the purple background or how the top menu is bombarded with every single feature Word offers.

Regardless I want the original format of Word 2003 back.
Is there anyway to modify Word 2007 back to Word 2003 ?

it said PAGE_FAULT_IN-NONPAGED_AVE: it advised me to disable any newly installed memory options. i am not comp techy but i have had a short training, yet i can't configure the error. i had a technician come to check the error and for a time, after reformatting my system, the pc worked well, until yeaterday when the error appeared again

It has a non-English language. I dont know how I was able to install it, but when I go to the add/remove progams, it won't allow me to remove it, saying its language does not match my pc. Any suggestions. I know I know this is what I get for downloading pirated progams.

I checked the Total Size of the Hard Drive is 143 GB- OK
My Documents Size 38GB
I-Tunes 6GB
Programs 6GB

Remaining Space 38GB!! Does not make sense. I Defrag did not help I checked Temp. Files Nada. Where is something hiding?

I recently got a new computer and my new logitech x540 speakers will not work. I tried an older set of speakers as well but those did not work either. All sound was looked at and nothing is muted etc. What could be the problem?? If it is that i need a driver, where could i find it?

I know a ground up system is better then a store built PC, but for the price, it was cheaper for me to get a PC with vista preinstalled, then to do a full build...

I want to remove the guts from this PC:
gateway GT5428 and install it into a HTPC case.
according to gateways website, the hard drive is a uATX micro ATX 9.6 x 9.6 inches

ATI X1550 dual DVI tuner (PCIexpress)

maxtor external 500GB harddrive (USB)

1- can I change the case for this PC?
