I have a bsnl broadband connection. It's speed is equal to dial-ups and it downloads only at 3kbps with DAP 31kbps. Is there a way to boost the speed of the connection.

I have already read online how to turn sticky keys off, but i don't want the Ok, Cancel, Setting box to ever show up again. How do i turn off pressing multiple shift problems. In otherwords, i would like to press shift multiple times while playing a game that requires me to press shift, and i don't want anything to keep me from doing that.

I bought a used Laptop less than 6months ago from a guy on Craigslist. It is a Dell C600. The guy said it had bought Windows XP professional for it a few months earlier.
Well long story short after around three months I got the "not a genuine copy of Windows message" every time I turned on my Laptop.
I am looking to install Linux as I cannot afford Windows and cannot get a hold of the guy to replace it for me.
So I need some direction on how to remove Windows, I dont care if I loose all my info from my computer, not used for much but surfing.
Also if you have any suggestion on which version on Linux to use and where to get it from.
This computer id mainly used by my kids so a windows like distribution would be great.

Ignorant non-tech person question, here: My digicam only records in .MOV, but I convert them to .AVI with a product called RADTools. I do that because .AVI seems easier to work with, and plus I started doing it because I thought it would make the already huge .MOV files (mine were usually around 70-100 MB) smaller--but it didn't. When I converted one 102 MB .MOV file to .AVI, the new file was 1.2-everlovin'-gigs. I want to get these files smaller, so that I can upload them onto the 'net. Any ideas on how I'd go about doing such a thing--any programs, methods, etc? I'd be grateful!
