I have a bsnl broadband connection. It's speed is equal to dial-ups and it downloads only at 3kbps with DAP 31kbps. Is there a way to boost the speed of the connection.

Go back and talk to your internet service provider. They will get you to run a test and if it isn't up to speed, they will look into it for you.

What are you trying to download? Something through a torrent or P2P site? Could be your ports aren't open which is slowing down the download speed.

BSNL Broadband has quite higher speed (More tha 256 kbps) and if you use a DAP on it, it will further boost the speed. You can check the cable / wire for any cuts, etc. If the problem persists, you may contact the ISP and get tested the speed to resolve your problem

The dial-up bandwith is only 64KBps. Are you sure you have broadband connection? Check it here http://home.cfl.rr.com/eaa/Bandwidth.htm

1. If this could help, use proxy connection to safe your bandwith and speedup the download.
2. Googling with keyword "TCP/IP tweak"
3. Use softwares like Internet Turbo etc...

sometimes the bandwidth is being used too much at the same time, so that could be the reason the download speed is slow. =] just be patient? or contact your broadband provider, it happened to a friend of mine that they misinstalled her system.
