Computers & Internet - 17 July 2006

My brothers started playing this onlyne game called "Runescape" by Jegex. They play this game for many hours everyday and since then, I've been having some problems with my computer such as; adware, spyware, and even aTrojan Downloader virus (wich have made me restore my computer to factory settings twice). I like to think that these bugs have mothing to do with the fact they play this online game (because I don't want to force them to quit it) ...but I have to be sure it is not the problem before something major happens to my computer. I guess my question is if you know how safe is to play this game, if at all, or if I should tell my bros. to quit playin it. Thank for your help, I really appreciate it!

I have DefenderPro AntiSpy but it won't find the stupid things to delete the crap. I swear this sucks. Like I don't know sometimes the internet works and sometimes it don't but I don't know how to get rid of it and I'm literaly about to cry. Maybe I'm overreacting but I don't know what to do. I am going to make a website and I signed up on goDaddy.com and I want to use DotNetNuke (DNN) software. But I am running into problems. Do they supply the software, or do you have it on your own computer? I know how to ftp it and all, but I have really never used that software. Call me crazy, but I think that myspace.com is simply a massive marketing scheme. At this point it is owned by News Corp. News Corp. is one of 6 huge corporations (the others are Viacom, NBC, Disney, Sony, and of course AOL Time Warner) that own nearly all media outlets in the U.S. including almost all major newspapers, record companies, radio stations, television channels, publishing companies, etc. (check out http://www.cjr.org/tools/owners/newscorp.asp for more info). Anyway, these "Big 6" Corporations dropped from 10 to 6 in less than a decade, and seem to be narrowing down even more. Many people using myspace.com don't realize who owns. If users display all of th music, films, tv shows, etc. that they enjoy as well as posting pictures to display how they like to be portrayed to the rest of th world, don't you think this is a fool-proof marketing tool for News Corp?

My computer freezes when I first login. I use Windows XP, and I have a Dell.

When I press my username, then enter the password, it will freeze up. It's kind of hard to explain.

I enter my password, then my desktop comes up with all the shortcuts and etc. After some screens pop up (like AIM, Xfire, MSN), it freezes up. The screen is still there, but I can't move my mouse or CTRL-ALT-DEL. Does anyone know the problem? It does not freeze when I go into safe mode.

I think this started when I plugged in a new microphone for computer game communication. I unplugged it now, and it still freezes. Help! I don't want my precious computer to die!

P.S: I'm typing from my brother's laptop.
