My brothers started playing this onlyne game called "Runescape" by Jegex. They play this game for many hours everyday and since then, I've been having some problems with my computer such as; adware, spyware, and even aTrojan Downloader virus (wich have made me restore my computer to factory settings twice). I like to think that these bugs have mothing to do with the fact they play this online game (because I don't want to force them to quit it) ...but I have to be sure it is not the problem before something major happens to my computer. I guess my question is if you know how safe is to play this game, if at all, or if I should tell my bros. to quit playin it. Thank for your help, I really appreciate it!

Here is a package that protects me and my neighbor. I haven't been infected in 8 months, and since I put it on his computer, he hasn't been infected in 6 months. He likes to download porn and it still protects him. Best of all everything is Free and work as good and better than pay packages.

Download the latest Java Update 7. Then remove any older versions from your computer.

Go here and download the following programs: All will be in the first 3 red boxes.

Firewall. - If you have XP with SP2 then use the existing Windows firewall. It is excellent. If not then download Zone Alarm free version.

Anti-Virus program - If you have one then use it or replace it with this one: AVG 7.1

Anti-Spy programs: Use more than one. None can catch all the garbage out there: Windows Defender Beta 2, Spybot Search and Destroy, AdAware SE Personal, SpywareBlaster.

This program will work with the AV and AS programs and add an additional layer of protection and it really works great.

This program will alert you to bad sites:

I've personally tried out the game, and I never experienced any viruses, worms, spy ware, adware, or Trojans. Just get yourself a good anti virus program. Also try getting a pop up blocker for the internet. I've had a lot of problems on my computer caused by these pop ups.

Runescape, itself, contains no spyware, adware, or viruses. However, popups from the site may. Be sure to use a trustworthy browser to play the game, like Firefox. Also make sure that you've got a good antivirus running, to keep a watch for incoming files that may contain malacious files.

since the game requires an open line to the internet. Make a restore point before they play the game. Check after they play the game for new files created, check those files on a virus protection software and then restore it to the new restore point that you created. You will know which files to delete, or which ones are corrupting the puter.

I'd probably ask them not to play the game anymore.

i think that you should tell them to stop playing for a while...if it continues then you know that it's not the game...if it stops...then let them know that they cannot continue...
