I like an house north of our major city, Atlanta, and I have this huge fear of driving on the interstate. I do ok if someone else drives, but if a big truck goes right beside on either side I freak out. & if 2 get on either side at the time I practically hold my breath until there is an opening again. Everything seems so close to the vehicle though. When I use mapquest, I always use the avoid highways option and go the longer route. Any suggestions?

I've already asked this, but none of the previous answers were enough to get a tire with. I thought I'd get better results if I described the tire better.

I'm making a fullscale replica of a vehicle, and it needs a set of wheels/tires.

Here's a rough draft diagram of the wheel (cutaway), along with dimensions on it..
http://www.deadguy.net/images/Fantasy-Wheel.jpg

The dimensions shown are "absolute values", but there's leeway in choosing something that's close, feel free to round them off.

I recognize that a tire/wheel of these exact specifications is not likely to exist. I can't do a custom tire/wheel, so I'm trying to get as close as possible. I suspect there might be something out there in terms of construction wheels, or extreme offroad wheels, but I can't seem to get enough info on what it is I'm looking for.

I need a full tire spec and supplier, for rims and tread. In other words, I need to take an answer and use it to go buy an appropriate tire. Anyone?

My consumer math assignment says : " Mr. Johnson found on the internet that his car had a 'trade-in value' of $4295 but a 'retail value of $9110. Check the internet and find out what these values mean and why such a difference exists." But I have looked for that and all I can find is the trade in values for specific cars...please help me?

I was wondering if it's true that a cop must have his/her lights on when they are sitting there trying to clock people on their radar. Will this type of defense work in court if he did not have them on, but he ticketed you for speeding? Several times I've seen cops sitting in places trying to catch people without their lights on, but can they ticket you if their lights were off?

The most irritating drivers on the road are young mothers, they are also the most thoughtless at specific times of the day, e.g. school runs, shopping.
The most dangerous, foolhardy and reckless are young males up to 26years old who, if it were not for other drivers evasive action and patience, would be killed (and others with them) in droves.
The most careless drivers are the elderly, not through rudeness but from lack of concentration and poor timing and slow reaction times.
The safest but most arrogant are young middleage males upwards to 60. In this same age group the women by comparison are the best overall for skills, and road manners. Younger women up to 24 are trying to compete with the male juveniles for sheer stupidity.
What is your experience of other drivers?

I mean, HOW MANY TIMES have you driven into a petrol ( gasoline) station and there are pumps free, but you see some silly young woman parked, blocking the forecourt waiting at a certain pump just so that her filler hole will be on the same side as the pump. Whereas - THE PEOPLE WHO DESIGN PETROL PUMPS ENSURE THE HOSE IS LONG ENOUGH TO REACH ROUND THE CAR NO MATTER WHAT SIDE THE HOLE IS ON..?

And I'll tell you an interesting thing also. If you look at those hoses, there is a "quick break" connection. So that if women try to drive away while the hose is still in the tank, the hose is designed to uncouple at the "quick break:" connection But these connectors can only be used once, so they charge the customer for the replacement connection - they're not cheap,. either.

I think we should go back to the days when the petrol pump attendant used to fill your tank, I didn't have a problem with that.

I have read as well as my own drving that most trips are short, under 5miles,usually in the city limits.I was thinks if says a 1000 people rode carts instead of their cars/vans it would save quite abit of gasoline and probably be chaper getting around town daily.
