I bought a used sports bike in june with about 2K miles on it. After I bought it I changed the oil and fluids. Figured that the bike should be good until 6K. I reached 6K this week and today I changed the oil... I thought it was wierd that only about 1 quart came out. (I never thought to check the oil since the 2K but yesterday saw the light come on just briefly - then turn off - at a stop sign.) I finished the oil change and called my dealership about the low quantity of oil that came out. The guy was mad that I didn't check the oil regularly and also told me that since the oil was so low - and I was riding that way for some time - I may have ruined the engine and bike.

Ruined? Does this sound right? The bike has not changed in performance, gas milage, sound, etc... can it really be ruined? How would I know? Did I mess up that badly? Please somebody let me know if I killed my bike.

The general rule is we wave, honk, nod heads, lift out a foot etc when we meet another biker, but what do we do if the other biker is a police biker - do we wave then, or pretend that we havent seen them? This is causing me real problems, especailly as there is a regular police biker that I see - who happens to be an very attractive lady police biker?

I recently purchased a 1981 Honda Hawk CB400T. It's buring al ittle oil and the clutch is shifting a little hard. I am going to take it in to get some stuff looked at but wanted to know how the heck I change the oil filter on it? I've already purchased an oil filter, just need to know where the old one is. No this isn't my first bike either.

Thanks

Is a 17" aftermarket replacement front wheel available for the KLR650? Is it possible to lace a 17" rim to the original hub? If so, how exactly is this done -- what rim and spokes would be used, and what is the procedure for lacing a rim? Is there a way to correct the speedometer/odometer for the smaller circumference?

The exhaust is not replaceable with an aftermarket product and has to be cut open to remove baffles then re-welded. The air filter is an easy swap for freer flowing jobby. Advice on polishing head (ooer missus) and lightening and balancing crank, pistons etc please. Also carb jetting advice would be nice.

It's been off the road for about 12 years, needs a new battery and a service but is low mileage and in pretty good condtion as it has been garaged all that time.

i did plan on riding it again oneday, but health reasons are making me sell it, so what would it be worth as it stands ???

Lets say the front tire. If it blows is ther absolutely no way of staying up? How much does it depend upon your speed? I've ridden in the country for two years, but then moved to L.A., and now am thinking about riding on the freeway. Will a blowout kill you?
