I had my LT1 engine rebuilt because it threw a rod and had it professionaly rebuilt by a large company that has been around for decades and everything was replaced wtith new parts where they could be. But now my car is slower off the line and overall.

Before I could smash the pedal and the tires (posi) would chirp going into 2nd and I could peel out and just had great acceleration off the line. Now it feels real sluggish.

I'd like to add this is a 96 Caprice and I have now put a good 5-6k miles on it over the last year since it was rebuilt.

It was great one day....leaked oil....but ran awesome....then it blew....was rebuilt and now it doesnt perform to how I feel the LT1 should.

The gears are 2:93 and its a tow package B4U and I have no exhaust upgrades and stock cats. Could a fresh engine and old exhaust cause such a HUGE difference? I can't even peel out with the brake pedal to the floor.

Unfortunately, it's looking like SUVs and sports cars and other vehicles with guzzle gas are going to stop being made and no one's gonna buy them anymore. I would much rather have an 8-cylinder like a Camaro Z28 or a Firebird TransAM. Everyone else might be switching to tiny, unsafe, wimpy Hybrid cars that can't take a hit in a collison and take all day to go from 0 to 60.
I wouldn't wanna be caught dead in one of those degrading, ugly vehicles that I find to be a joke. I would much have that 300+ HP from a Firebird or a Camaro. They look more cool, are much faster, and are a little safer in case of an accident.

I hope the decreased sales will mean lower prices, not the other way around.

I am thinking about getting a "2001 Chevrolet Prizm LSi 4D Sedan" . . .
does anyone know how reliable those are?
or of any common problems with those cars?

Interested in looking at the 1950's chevy Bel Air line. I really do not like someone that beefs the car so that they burn a gallon of gas a minute from idling nor do I like cars that have the interior and exterior revamped. Everytime I think I found one with great body work, the seats are switched to something else or they are full of guages that were not originally there. Personally, I want my cars to look as original as possible.

With that said, should I purchase an old hearty car and restore it back to its originallity or should I just try to find the closest that I can that it already restored. WHICH IS CHEAPER?
Thanks

P.S. Don't get me wrong, I respect all peoples ideas for their revamped cars, good for them, just not for me.

I have a Cavalier 98 with 150000 miles, i have noticed that about a week ago the check engine sensor was on when driving my car, however I saw that when the car is full of fuel, the sensor goes of, that didn't happen before, so i dont know what is happening, the car runs great, however yesterday i was driving the car and suddenly it began to behave as if there was a problem with the fuel, like the motor wasn't getting enough fuel, and the car was lossing power, I saw the sensor and i saw that the check engine sensor was blinking, i stop the car and turned it off, to see possible damage in the engine, i didnt see nothing so i continue my way and the check engine sensor stop blinking but continue to be turned on, today i fill my car with gas and the check engine sensor is again off.

Any Ideas?

Sorry for my pour English

I have a 1994 Chevrolet K3500 6.5L Turbo Diesel 4X4. At 55 mph I have around 2250 rpm. At 65 mph I have around 2750 rpm. This truck has a Hydra-matic 4L80E 4-Speed Overdrive transmission. The info stickers are worn off the truck and I have no operators manual. These RPMs seem high to me. What is my gear ratio (3.73, 4.10, higher?) (And yes the transmission is shifting into overdrive and the torque converter is locking up)
