What he just said but get synthetic. It's available from Mobil and Valvoline at Kragens and the other names they operate under. I drop the pan with the fluid hot. Replace the filter. Add the 5 quart initial fill. Remove the cooling line to the radiator. Place a mortar mixing pan under the car to catch the fluid. On my car I have to slip a hose over the line so it will go into the pan. In the van it fits right into a 1 quart oil container. Start the engine and count to 7, shut down. Should be just about a quart that comes out. Add a quart. remove a quart until you have replaced a full fill. That amount can be gotten from the Parts Store. My Mustang uses 14 my van 12.

For a quick fix drive at least 15 miles to get fluid hot place a 1/4 hose down the tube the dip stick is in and siphon out 16 oz. Then add Lucas Tranny Stuff. That will hold you until you either figure out what i just typed or until you get to a REAL Transmission Shop.

How do you know it has not slipped? You have to connect to a code reader. The Check Engine Light is for emissions problems
