Is it cheaper? Also, can independant garages do a good job on your BMW just as if you were at the dealer? what are the price differences? Is the results just as good as the dealer, or are you putting your car in jeopardy?

i have a 02 bmw x5 4.4i , it has 82000 km of milage ( around 60.000 miles ) , during regular checkup i make the following code appeared : converter lockup clutch excessive slippage , i was adviced to replace my torque converter , i refused since my car runs normally and i never felt anythn wrong . nor did my car onboard computer display any fault .
what are the symptoms of this problem ? does it affect fuel consumption ? what about car performance is it affected ? what will happen if i leave this fault un fixed ?

MY BMW(2000323I) IS MESSING UP :( MY TRANSITION LIGHT GOES ON WHEN MY CAR IS IN A UP HILL POSITION AND WHEN THE LIGHT IS ON IT SHIFTS HARD.BUT WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN A DOWNHILL AND TURN THE CAR OFF THE LIGHT GOES OFF AND THE CAR SHIFTS PERFECT.PLS HELP. I THINK IT COULD BE THE TRANI OIL?

I though of replacing my air filter with K&N air filter (which is three times costs then normal one)in my 1990 bmw 525i..K&N claims that it can be reused by cleaning kit.Is it true that this air filter will increase performance if so how it increase the performance.Will it affect any of the other parts in my car.i mean any disadvantages of replacing with K&N filter.pls advice.

I just bought a new 2007 Mini Convertible (non S-Type). I believe the owners manual suggests putting in Premium gas only. However, with an engine as small as the Mini's is this really necessary? What is the advantages of going with Premium gas?

I have tried running a cd to clean the player but it to gets ejected after the player has tried to read it. I have tried both original cds and burned cds but neither one is accepted and i get the same error. Do i need a new cd player?

Was looking around for a E39 between year 2001-2003 and came across this 2002 E39. It has got a real low mileage (only about 40,000 km), is it possible? Or is it possible that the mileage can be adjusted? Any way that I can find out? i.e. hook up the laptop to the ECU, etc ..... ?
