wow i was wondering why ppl kept saying no what else do i wanna do, thas wat i get for doin it on a sidekick but anyways, its been sitting for about a yr, i was told all i need 2 do is siphon out the gas, put new gas in the tank and it should start fine. I had 2 buy a new battery because the old one was defective. So when i tried 2 fire it up, it wouldnt turn over. This had been a problem before with the previous owner. So i wanna know is what i should 2 fix it because im fairly automative inclined so i can hold my own, im just tryna get around sending it to the dealers or a mom and pop place that charges cheap but might do cheap work on it.

Now what?
you want to start your engine right?
First get your engine oil and oil filter, spark plugs, air filter changed.Check the radiator hoses for cracks.Change if required.
Drain out your radiator coolant and pour new coolant.
Top up brake and clutch fluid if less.check out whether any wires biten by rats.get the tires checked
Switch off your air con.
Pull the sparking wire out from ignition coil and now crank the engine.Dont allow the engine to start for about one minute.
This will allow the lub.oil to flow freely and lubricate moving parts..
Now fit the spark wire to the ignition coil and start the engine.
Once started, dont accelerate.let the engine run on idling speed of about 800 rpm.
let the engine warm up for about 15 minutes.check the temperature, check for abnormalities.
If all normal and satisfactory, now your can engage the gear and try to move the car, keeping in mind that the brakes could be in siezed position. After moving ahead slowly, try to apply the brakes gently.once car stops and behaves, try little faster at open grounds.
Drive around for few hours.Always bear in mind, that you will have teething problems for first few days.
Once fixed.you can enjoy your driving as b4.
To be honest your car will not give you much problems even left sitting for 2 years.
Mine sat for 3 years. No worries.

I don't know what you are asking here, but I'd suggest you also change the oil and put some dry gas in the gas tank before you try to fire it up after it sitting for a year.
