Hi I'm having a real stressful & difficult time w/ a person who agreed to sell me his car. The total price was $4500.00. I paid $2500 up front. From that point on I've been making timely payments as instructed. Now the balance is $1000.00. The seller has changed some of the agreements we made. I have not defaulted on any of the payments that have been due. We did sign an agreement. Now he wants the car back. My next payment isn't even due til next Friday. I don't know what to do. I don't have the money for a lawyer. Any advice would be greatly apprereciated. Thanks

I'm always seeing or hearing about people donating their extra car for tax credit. Are there charities which choose to reward these vehicles to low income families or single mothers etc. It seems to make since to me, someone who has a hard time with transportation is going to have difficulties with establishing employment.

Thanks for any insight
Sincerely,
~ Drea

It seems that the extra money I pay on my car payment every month reduces the payment instead of the principal? Why does this happen? Is it a good thing or a bad thing. Does the payment stay lowered until end of the loan term? TIA

If I have a lease with 12,000/yr and I only use, say, 8,000- will I get anything back at the end of my lease for staying under the miles?, since the car at that point will be worth more to the dealer than if I used all 12,000 miles?

I had $11,000 of my own money saved up with no debts whatsoever and I needed a car to get me to and from my college classes.

I spent ALL MY $11,000 on a $12,000 1998 white 6-cylinder Camaro Coupe with 24K miles and the other $1,000 had to be from my parents.

I was flat broke just like that and I even truly wanted the car in the first place. I was just rushing into it too fast. I went from $11,000 all the way down to having literally nothing left. AND I WORKED MY AS# OFF AT A MCDONALD'S FOR A YEAR RIGHT BEFORE MY PURCHASE AND SPEND ALL OF MY TIME SAVING UP MONEY FROM WHEN I WAS 11 ALL THE WAY TO WHEN I WAS 21 WHEN I MADE THIS BAD PURCHASE.

My parents and sister said I made a good decision, but I know I didn't. When you have a golden opporunity to have over $10,000 saved up in cash debt free at 21 years old, you should make sure you still have money in the bank.

I should have spent no more than $4,000 on car, at least I would still had $7,000 saved up. DON'T YOU AGREE??

So I bought a used Jeep from a WI dealership in December 2005. At that time my credit was still iffy, as I had filed bankruptcy 2 years prior. But nonetheless I got the loan (also traded in a car) but with higher interest. Almost right after I got it, I realized how stupid my decision was mainly because of the fuel cost. But I kinda figured that was too bad, done deal.

So now I am thinking again about how I want/need a smaller car. I owe about $7000 on the car, but of course it's only wirth about $6000 max. I know I could sell if privately, but I don't know how to do that considering I don't technically own the title.

I guess I'm just looking for some advice on this. I could go to another dealership and use the existing car as a trade in, but I assume the payments would be outrageous. Although my credit has definately improved. Other than just paying the car off and then trading it in, is there any better way to get out of this loan and into a car that better suits me?

Please suggest a car that will accommodate two people and four cat carriers. I'm new to suburbs that may require flood-evacuation; that's why the need to fit four carriers. Prior to this relocation, I walked everywhere, using our sub-compact only on weekends for errands. I know that whatever I buy will seem huge compared to the one we now have. Please resist recommending something too big for our needs. Thanks!
