How can a dealership offer an amount ($2000) for something that may not be driveable? They claim if you can push, pull, tow it in they will give you 2k for your trade-in. Will you really get the $2k or are they buffering the sale to cover this?

Are you better off selling the car on your own?

Thanks for any replies

Apparently they used to be made out of asbestos, back in the old days, before they knew that it gave you cancer and loads of mechanics got ill.

What are they made out of now? And no, I'm not talking about brake DISCS, I'm not that stupid. I know they're made out of metal.

My neightbor gave me one of his old car's, that he hadn't driven in about 3-4months, its a toyota camry 1990, has a little over 140,000 miles on it, and its kinda rusty, its going to need more brake work then i thought, they hiss and leak brake fluid, and for my first car, its perfect, no need to worry about putting the best gas, or having the best insurense, but what i dont know is, if its worth it, hes giving it to me for free, so im not going to complain, but does anyone have any tips for the rust, without making it pricy, and what do you think about the deal, is it worth it, it looks pretty shitty on the outside, but the inside's perfect, so please any advice, or opinons keep um coming, i dont know what to do, the break work is going to cost me a couple hundred but i figured i got it for free, so if i pay a little to fix it up what the hell
